A combination of video chat software and robotics is now allowing chronically ill children to be virtually present in classrooms, which could benefit both their academic and social development. However, engineers still have several kinks to work out in this technology, such as: connectivity issues, imperfect mobility, limited battery life, and the attention drawn by other children.
